My family used to holiday at Millport from 1931-35. Happy memories abound. No cars allowed on the island then, and I don't remember meny cyclists. No cycle rentals, I imagine. We walked everywhere then and once during our month-long stay we would hike right round the island as a day-long event. I was six when I first completed the circuit My sister & I revisited Millport about 5 years ago & recaptured the days of our youth. It was wonderful.

Is there a public bus service that circumnavigates the island (hop-on, hop-off)?

Had a glorious day visit today Tuesday 7th July 2009. It was my first visit in 10 years and my second visit in 25 years. It was my sister's first visit in 25 years and my father's first in about 50 years!!! We spent all our summers in the late 1950s and throughout the 1960s in Millport and this was a nostalgic trip back in time. We were so impressed with the standard of the beaches, the floral areas, the grassed verges, the workmen sweeping and cleaning and of course all our old favourites - West Bay, Fintry Bay, Mapes, Ritz, Crazy Golf and Crocodile Rock. But just where was Walter Kerr????? I'm coming back and it will be less than 10 years and I might even bring my bike! Keep up the good work.
